Here are my three, slightly random, kids :-)

Urban with a side of vintage

A well placed prop can take a good photo session to great. With the addition of a hat and a lollipop, these photos took on a vintage feel. I couldn't resist having some post-production fun!

On a side note, you might start to see a theme evolving in recent photographs of toddlers. Not only do I love the look of big lollipops in urban settings, but also appreciate how content and cooperative kids are with one in their hands.

Sugar, spice and EVERYTHING nice

Growing up in a household full of brothers and then having three boys of my own, I have soft spot for babies that wear pink. This past week I had the opportunity to photograph beautiful one month old Emma. A very alert, happy little girl. Mommy tried and tried to put her to sleep in the 2 hours I was at their home, but she didn't want to miss a thing.

One of the fun things about Emma's session was that it was important to Mom and Dad that the photos had sentimental value. We were able to use grandpa's old glove, a blanket made by a close friend and other little tidbits around the house with meaning.

Rolling with the punches.

The Balboa Fun Zone and Pier, such a great location for Urban California. Lucky for this family it is walking distance from their home and not only a great location for fun family photos, but also a meaningful spot for this time and place in their lives.

Most of the time my ideas are well thought out, planned, executed and produce wonderful photographs. On this particular photo session all of the above steps were taken but I may have missed thinking this one out.

Alyssa and Jeremy rolled with the punches as I handed their daughter a lollipop that quickly turned her into a red, sticky, gooey mess. I felt so incredibly bad that I'd sent this family home for hours of bathing and a huge dry cleaning bill. I will admit my guilt did not last long as I chuckled through the results of the photos. Nothing beats a beautiful little girl, in a white dress covered in red, sticky, gooey mess!!

Live in the moment and I promise the results will be worth it!
